Self-Discovery- A mixed media layout

Hello,

Today we’re guest designing for More Than Words Challenge Blog. Here’s a look at their challenge for this month:

MTW-201907-MAIN

I (Aditi) was inspired by the word inspiration and based my layout on that. ‘Discover’ to me spoke of my own discovery and hence I decided to scrap myself in this Layout. The layout is a collection of many moments from my time in Spain. The background is created using watercolour inks and lindy’s magical shakers. I’ve incorporated a technique I discovered during my time at the Art School. I’ve used Scrapbox Chipboard and dies for the embellishments (that I’d bought during my travels and went hiding in my stash). These to me speak of directions. I’ve used lace, doodling pens and a resin frame as well from my old stash as a part of the creative challenge. The colours used are also symbolic to this journey.

I’ve also written a poem on this:

Sometimes, you ought to isolate,

in order to find yourself.

In solitude, I found

my laughter, my joy, my peace.

And then I

discovered me!

Life has its ways,

and if you surrender

healing is magical.

Sometimes, you ought to move,

in different directions

to find the light within.

It’s circular and spiral,

not linear, this journey

called life.

And freedom lies in

flowing like a stream

and swaying with the wind.

And when that happened,

my heart opened up,

sunshine warmed-up my soul,

and love gushed in every cell.

With a new passion and gratitude

my entire being blossomed.

Fantasy Call

It’s always good to take up new challenges and join new teams. It’s a way of not only showcasing your skills but also learning and growing. It’s an exchange of skills, talents, ideas and much more and that adds value to lives. We’ve been a part of the Fantasy team this past term, and have enjoyed our tenure. We wish to continue and inspire people with our creations using their fabulous knives and chipboards.

We are Sunila & Aditi (mother & daughter, aka Dots to Lines) and we live in Bangalore, India. We have been mixed media artists and scrapbookers professionally for about 5 years. We are into paper-crafting, Mixed Media Layouts, Art Journaling, Albums making, Altered Art and Scrapbooking. Our style of art and craft is a fusion of techniques and use of vibrant colours. We aim to spread joy. Every creation of ours, speaks a story and we enjoy sharing this with people. We keep learning and try to incorporate variety in our creations.  We keep ourselves updated and upgrade our skills timely.

We would like to re-apply and continue our term with Fantasy. We are huge fans of Fantasy Dies and chipboards. We would love to be a part of the Team, to showcase creative ways of using Fantasy Dies/Chipboards. We have a great standing and viewership as artists/crafters in the Indian Market, and we would be able to contribute to the growth of the brand, reaching a newer market like India. We have many interested crafters/artists who love using dies and chipboards in their creations, and with us showcasing the product, it would sure help the brand enter this vast art world in India. With our versatility, we’d love to showcase them across projects- journals, cards, layouts, altered projects, etc. Also, it would be a great opportunity for us to work with a team of mixed artists, share, and learn together. We’re punctual and hence timely project submission is a plus! We are into blogging and have experience being Design Team Members. We are active on social media platforms. We regularly also participate in various blog challenges. Documenting memories, especially through mixed media art and scrapbooking makes us happy.

Along with an International Artist Nuneka, Aditi has an Instagram Challenge for 2019 by the name of Nomadic Soul Diaries.  Through this, we aim to encourage people to express their creativity. We have 50 international designers and various brands associated with us for this. And the response so far has been magnificent.

We have also been a part of various Blog Hops and YouTube Hops with International Artists. We have a few upcoming events as well. We enjoy video tutorials and have an active YouTube channel.

We are also teaching at Art Walk Alchemy, a class each, this year. Here’s a link- https://www.mysticspringstudios.com/art-walk-alchemy/.  Apart from this, we do take workshops.
