Gifting ideas with die cut boxes

Hello everyone,

Today we are so thrilled! It’s our first post for Papericious this term and it’s a dream come true!

The Papericious September release has so many fun products, especially the die cut boxes for the coming festive season.

These boxes come in a pack of 5 with different shapes, pre- scored and pre-taped in a stiff 350g Ivory Paper. They are sturdy enough for stenciling with various mediums, spraying with colors and inking.

The best thing is these make great gift boxes for any occasion.

Today we’ve picked three of these boxes and designed them. Here’s a look at them.

Baby Boy Album Insert

Hello everyone,

Today we’re on the Craftyscrappers blog some inspiration for you all.

We’ve created a mixed media baby boy album insert.

For this insert, we first stamped various images on a white cardstock with versamark. We then sprinkled black embossing powder and heat set it. After this, we sprayed the ocean waves shimmer spray on our craft mat and misted it with water. We overturned the cardstock and moved it around on the spray to lift the color. We then heat set it. Next, using the diamonds stencils, we sprayed the bitter lemon color randomly on the page and heat set it. We then picked the argyle stencil and sprayed the sweet pumpkin color again randomly. We then stamped the ducks on the top and bottom continuously with black archival ink. Next, we distressed the edges of the page. We mounted this inside the album with some two- way tape.

Supply list:

  • White cardstock
  • Versamark
  • Lindy’s Black Forest Black Embossing Powder
  • Craftyscrappers Stamps- My Baby; Sweet Baby and Baby Prince & Baby Princess
  • Craftyscrappers Shimmer SPrays- Ocean Waves, Bitter Lemon, Sweet Pumpkin
  • Tim Holtz Stencil- Diamonds and Argyle
  • Distress Ink- Mermaid Lagoon

September 15

We were inspired by Lindy’s Color Challenge and have used the September Color Challenge Mega Kit for our layout.

Our background consists of stamping with versamark and heat embossing with the colors in the color challenge kit. We also stamped with black and sepia ink. With four different stencil patterns, we sprayed four colors from the kit. The papers used for our layering around our photo, have been created by spraying the colors onto white cardstock. Our title chipboard has also been heat embossed. We stamped the butterflies with the spray for a watercolor effect. Our flowers and leaves have been stamped and heat embossed and then spritzed with color.

School Postcard

Today we’ve created a postcard as a wish to a teacher for Teacher’s Day. We’ve used the collage technique to inspire you with the Happy Little Stampers Challenge theme. We’ve incorporated the words school and play (school as our theme and play of colors) to inspire you with the challenge at Colorful Creations. We’ve incorporated the theme of School Fun with a twist of books to inspire you with the Mixed Media Mojo Challenge!

Africa Take 2

Africa also consists of a part of Egypt and we couldn’t resist ourselves from creating something Egypt.

Here’s our additional project for the ITAC Challenge 4 Africa

A piece inspired by the Egyptian Pharaoh Art. We’ve used the warmness of gold and balanced it with the coolness of blue, repeated the string and pearl patterns for the entire composition, used pearls and our textures are predominantly strings, beads which represent the Egyptian era!

Africa

The International Tournament of Art and Craft Challenge 4 is taking us to Africa. Well, Africa is special to us because Sunila hails from Kenya and has spent her childhood there.

Africa thus brings some stark imagery to our minds and we’ve used that in our creation.

We’ve created two canvas panels incorporating the themes and the mood-board for Africa.

  • Warm, bright colors- We’ve used metallic accents and warm desert colors.

  • Repeated ethnic patterns- We focussed on the folklore- their work, music, dance and repeated that symbolism.

  • Charms, pearls, metallic wire- We’ve created ours with clay.

  • Words or text- Not included as we felt, our pieces speak for themselves

  • Textures, cracks, rust effect- The entire feel of the pieces’ is rustic, with varied textures and 3 D images.
