Is it christmas?

Is it Christmas already? No, but here at Dots to Lines we’ve already begun our creations to give you a real feel.

Today we decided to try our hands with Kaisercraft’s September Mood Board Challenge and it truly inspired up.

We’ve created a layout inspired by the colours, theme and textures from the mood board.

We used papers from our stash ( Sandy Toes Collection- P1702 Sunshine; Pitter Patter Collection P1548 Little One; Pitter Patter Collection P1546 Precious Gift; Black and White Timeless Collection; Base Coat Collection- all from Kaisercraft). We also used pieces of Bella Memories- Vintage Flower paper for this layout. All our stamping, die-cutting and layering have been done using the same paper. We’ve used plenty of textures around and added glitter and heat embossing powder for the real snow feel.

Hope you feel snowy after seeing this:)!

Smile EveryDay!

For this month’s Altenew Inspiration Challenge- Craft room we decided to create a tag.

It is full of fun colours- our primaries! We’ve used the Wild Hibiscus Stamp set for our focal images. We stamped them on red, yellow and blue vellum and heat embossed them with same colours interchangeably. We chose our sentiment from the Painted Inspirations Stamp set. We stamped a few flowers from the Vintage Flowers set onto our mini typewriter paper.

We kept to the same colours but different shades for our paper layering and added our stamped images. We used some string for added texture and dimension on our tag.

This a happy tag as every time we see it we smile!

Me and You

So today we tried our hands at another layout and throughly enjoyed it:)!

We’ve stuck to the DCWV challenge sketch for September. We’ve re-created memories of a holiday/a time enjoyed. We’ve used the Hello Darling Paper stack , hand made the flowers and used BoBunny embellishments to complete our banner at the bottom. We’ve added some texture using transparent gel around the entire layering and given it some depth. We completed this with a few black splashes and brads!

Back to School

Yay!! This was an exciting theme for us! It took us back to our school days and beginning of a new term!

We created this stationery gift box from a friend to a friend at the beginning of a new school year. Its huge enough to hold all supplies and cute as well.

We created the entire box with chipboard, covered it in lollipop and candy looking patterned paper. We then stamped, water-coloured and fussy cut elements from Pee-a-Boo’s School Stamp set and Mudra’s Friendship Stamp set to go with our theme. We added these elements with foam tape on the lid as well as inside the box!

Hope it takes you back to your school memories and stationery craze!

Tags!

This is the first time we are entering the Prima Marketing Inc Challenge and are super excited. So we chose to work on the card and tag challenge and made a tag based on the given sketch.

We made it a birthday tag as we have some special birthdays’ this month :-)!

For this one we used the Garden Fables Paper pack and layered different sizes. We added texture using the 3D Matte Gel Transparent and Rattan Stencil. We die cut a Crochet Prima Doily and layered it between our tags.We used Bubbles with black archival ink and stamped randomly throughout. We added some string and a flower from the Herbage set, leaf from the Paper Vegetation set and a butterfly from the Ramona Set. We stamped our sentiment and fitted it in. We tied a pink ribbon and that completed this tag.

We love its simplicity and grace. Hope you like it!

Dream!

Dreams are always a great theme to work on and we love every opportunity we get to work with Dreams.

So today we’ve created a mixed media box to hold all things precious, all things dreamy.

With this box we are working on two challenges- Mixed Media Place August Challenge Creative Gym and Lindy’s Stamp Gang September Colour Challenge.

We prepped our box with paper bits and gesso. Next we laid out a few chipboard elements like flourishes, swirls, flowers, buttons etc on the front and side of the box. We covered it with more gesso and added some sand texture all around. We next used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Rizzo’s Rowdy Red and  Lindy’s Stamp Gang Tears On My Pillow Tangerine sprays and added colour. We also used Lindy’s Stamp Gang South Shore Sand. We used a chipboard dream catcher as our highlight and heat embossed it with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Hyacinth Blue Jade. We stamped a sentiment to go along and a Santoro Girl which was then water-coloured. We used some doily as well. For our side, we stamped images of a dreamcatcher and coloured it and used string to adhere the stamped feathers. We also stamped dreams to go along it. We used inka gold to highlight the sand texture and some texture stamp with black archival ink all over the box. We completed it with a chipboard dream in blue and yellow to go with our entire look. img_9944-1

Strawberry Delight

Doing layouts is so much fun! Especially with challenges in mind.

For this particular one we took the September More Than Words Theme- Delight and Recipe, the sketch from Peek-a-boo Challenge #10, and a lot of inspiration from Lulupu’s September challenge # 65 mood board.

In our layout, we have incorporated Grandma’s recipe of Strawberry CheeseCake as our recipe and also used elements from the given art recipe like die cuts, buttons, beads and mist.

From the mood board we picked our colours- white, red, pink; feathers; flowers; heart and love.

We followed the Peek-a-boo sketch and made this delightful layout. We used Peek-a-boo’s Blocks and Blocks stencil for our background and a stamp that goes with our theme from the Positive Vibes Set and Swirly Time Stamp.

We added lace and washi tape for highlights, arranged all our elements and we were done with this mouth watering piece.
