It isn’t just a BOX!

When we read that for this month the theme is Anything Goes at the Papericious Blog, we were confused! When you have a theme given, its easy to work, but when you’re told anything is okay-you’re lost with options! And that’s exactly what happened with us.

We were however sure, that we want to work with the new release paper collection- Mi Estilo. We then decided to design a Jewellery/Cosmetic Box that any girl would love to have.

We’ve used a 12″ x 9″ Pine Wood MDF box with partitions as our base and 6 x6″ Mi Estilo Paper Pad. We chose a few sheets and fussy cut out smaller elements from one of the  included  sheets. We chose a plain shaded red background for the top, bigger polka dots for two sides and an abstract design with the highlight elements for the front side. We adhered them with mod podge onto our base. We stamped a Prima doll and for her clothes we chose the smaller polka dots and the grey heart paper from the same collection. We water-coloured the rest of the girl and added dimension with foam tape. We then began picking out elements that would go on the box. We die cut an oval frame and an ornamental corner using different papers from the same collection. We chose two chipboard corners, a chandelier and a flourish. We painted them using metallic black and rust.

We laid out all the cut elements onto the box and filled a few red, maroon and white roses in between. We then added smaller fussy cut elements (make up essentials). Once happy we stuck them with tacky glue and foam tape. We added a  button from the Often collection.

We then stuck some lace borders on to the sides of the lid and bottom of the box for a richer look. From the same fussy cut elements, we chose a few and stuck them onto our sides. For the front side we stuck the same flourish chipboard used on the top.

We then created a mini tag that can either sit on the box or be used separately. We layered different papers used on the box, added “Happy girls are..” sentiment and finished it with a few more smaller fussy cut make up elements. We tied everything together with a red ribbon.

We also put a little something inside the box. For this we used a frame cut from a sheet in the Ephemera collection, added fussy cut elements from Mi Estilo collection and stuck with foam tape.

For the entire box we chose black, white, rust and red colours and played with them.

This box has so many tiny details. We took almost 8 hours to finish this and it was totally worth our effort. It is a happy box and we’re sure every girl would love to own one. It can make such a wonderful gift as well!

We’ve clicked pictures from various angles too show you the details!

Hope this box makes you happy:)!

The Little Book of Life

Art journaling is really enthralling and we’re having fun!

Today, again keeping in the the same inspirations as our previous page, we’ve created another mixed media journal page. The theme of friendship and circles  by the More Than Words Challenge. Our colours were inspired by Lindy’s Colour Challenge and Peek-a-boo’s Colour Inspiration Challenge.

This page involves a lot of layering. Here we’ve shown friendship between siblings that eternal. We’ve again incorporated circles with the theme to create this page.

For this page, our process was slightly different from the previous ones. We started off with choosing all are embellishments and layering elements. We chose two pieces of chipboard identical in shape and design but different in size. We then cut different sizes of circles on papers we had in our stash and picked some lace. We stuck to colours similar to our sprays that we were to use for this project. We took a piece of white doily and cut it into half. We then stamped images and sentiment from Peek-a-boo’s Magical Fairies stamp set and heat embossed it with Lindy’s  Hyacinth Blue Jade and Lindy’s Cosmic Pink Blue; after which we fussy cut them. We chose some other text pieces from our die cut stash apt for this project- Good times, having fun, etc. We chose two pictures and cut them out to fit in the chipboard frame. Once done, we started arranging the elements layering on top of the other. Once we were happy with our arrangement, we chose to work on the surrounding areas. We began with Peek-a-boo’s Bubbles stencil and crackle texture paste, adding texture predominantly in the seen areas. Once dry we began splashing our colours. Here we haven’t blended them with water, as we wanted the splash and splatter to be visible. We used Lindy’s Luscious Lime, Lindy’s Bachelor Button Blue, Lindy’s Luminous Lemon, Lindy’s Poppin Pink and a few drops of Lindy’s Tears on my pillow Tangerine sprays. Once happy with our colours we started stamping. We used Peek-a-boo’s Mandala stamp set and Prima’s Bubbles with Black Archival Ink and randomly stamped our page. Then we stuck all our decided elements as per our arrangement. We stuck some with glue and some with foam tape for added dimension. We stuck our fairies and stamped sentiment and added our text pieces. The then added blue, pink, green and yellow crystals in random places. We used Lindy’s Sidewalk Chalk and Lindy’s Blazing Black spray for a final splatter around our main layout clusters. We finished it off with a button from a Bo Bunny set we’ve had for long.

We loved our out come and hope you do too :)!

CraftStamper August Challenge – Stencils and Mask

Journaling- Oh yes it’s fun!

Everyone who is wondering what an art journal is or knows it and has not yet started maintaining, should take the leap soon!

It’s is so much fun! Its a way of expressing yourself, your moods, emotions, aspirations, and so much more through art. It’s your own book and you can do whatever you want to, no restrictions! Also, you can decide your technique and do multiple things.

Today we created a journal page around the theme of friendship and circles inspired by the More Than Words Challenge. Our colour were inspired by Lindy’s Colour Challenge and Peek-a-boo’s Colour Inspiration Challenge.

We started of using  Peek-a-boo’s leafy delight stencil and Wild Honey Distress Ink. Next Using Peek-a-boo’s Humming Blossom Stamp set, we stamped the flowers on the left side of our page and stamped them on some separate white cardstock as well. We also stamped the birds and a few flowers and butterflies from Altenew’s Wild Hibiscus Stamp set. Our sentiment is from Altenew’s Painted Inspiration Set which truly holds the essence of good friends.  To our page, we added some crackle texture paste using Peek-a-boo’s bubbles stencil at random spots. Once dry, we sprayed Lindy’s Luscious Lime, Lindy’s Bachelor Button Blue, Lindy’s Luminous Lemon, Lindy’s Poppin Pink and  Lindy’s Tears on my pillow Tangerine sprays. and blended them with water. While adding colour, we made sure we avoided the sides of the page in order to highlight our leaf pattern. We coloured our stamped images on the cardstock with watercolours and Pitt Markers and fussy cut them. Next, we assembled and stuck them all  with foam tape on our page . We arranged the flowers in a way that our background flowers show at places. On the right side of the page, we added doily and some coloured circles texture around are sentiment. We then stamped using Kaisercraft’s Tic-Tock stamp and Prima’s Bubbles stamp and black archival Ink randomly.

This page truly gave us happiness and uplifted our spirit. We’ve used birds, butterflies and nature to show friendship.

Hope you’re inspired :)!

Fruity affair!

We we read the august theme at Mixed Media Mojo, we were excited and clueless. Harvest and fruit! We got our brains working and reached no end.

Then finally, we had an idea. We designed this key holder with mouth watering strawberries and Jam. We kept our base colours simple- black and white. Added some colours and dimension with texture paste. Fussy cut our key images and water-coloured them and adhered them with foam tape. Thats it simple, clean and crisp!

We decided that this was wild enough for the Go Wild Challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Shaker Card

Yet another multiple challenge project!

IMG_8001This time we decided to create a shaker card with a lot of floral images, and pink and grey being the dominant colours and a pastel blue complimenting it. Again we stuck to the friendship theme, and here Mom is our best friend :)!

We used a pink cardstock for our base and added grey/silver foam sheet for the borders. For our floral images we used Dahila Blossom and Vintage Roses Stamp set and fussy cut our stamped flowers and leaves. For our background we heat embossed using stamps from Lacy Scrolls and Lindy’s Magic Moon Pearls. For our shaker elements we used a chipboard piece and a die cut cardstock. We added dimension to the die cut with a felt border. We added sequence and a few beads in our three chosen colours. Arranged and stuck are fussy cut images around the shaker elements and added our sentiment from the Wild Hibiscus Set and voila! We have a cute card for mom- best friend in the world:)!

Simplicity at its best

Today, we came across the One Layer Simplicity Challenge 30 for the month of August.

It sounded fun- make a card on just a piece of  cardstock, add some inks and done!

We incorporated the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #184 and are colours were inspired from Altenew’s August Inspiration Challenge

For this card- we chose technique as our theme and used watercolour pencils. A simple floral spread out and a clear sentiment did the trick. We’ve used Altenew’s Persian Motifs for our image and Wild Hibiscus for our sentiment.

Hope you all like this one:)!

Moodboard Inspiration

Today, we tried our hand at the July Moodboard Challenge at Mixed Media Place

Isn’t this board amazing? We simply loved it!

MMM

We were inspired by the blue and pink shades, lights, flower, clouds and the word happy.

We decided to create a watch box and use various mediums. For this project we chose the Colour Arte Products.

To begin with, we layered some paper scraps onto our box and adhered them with mod podge. We next added some dry volt tape and plaster bandage in a similar manner. Once dry we gave the complete box a layer of watered down gesso in order to create one single surface over our layers. We added some sand texture randomly for more texture.

We then arranged all our embellishments from our stash- shells, beads, flower, pearls, etc…, and stuck them with tacky glue and covered them all with gesso for a white base.

Next, we started adding colour using Primary elements pigments- Baby’s Breath, Rose Bud and Cool Water. Once we were happy with the shades on all sides, we dabbed some Silks- Pink Azalea and African Jade randomly to add some more colour and highlight our texture. Next, using black archival ink we stamped randomly using Prima Bubbles and Peek-a-boo Messy Lines.

In the end, to highlight the sand texture we went over with Inka gold- Magenta, Aquamarine and Silver.

We love this box as our inspirations are clearly visible- the colours with a cloudy effect, the shimmer and specs in the form of light, the flower as our embellishment and happiness just creating and seeing it :-)!

A simple card

Today we took up multiple challenges and created this simple yet elegant card apt for a friend during this friendship month.

It was a peaceful creation and it really inspired us.

We’ve used the Flower in a Jar peek-a-boo stamp set for our image and Bo Bunny stamp for the sentiment.  Added  washi tape and sequence for some more glow. The entire image  and the background has been water coloured to create this card.

Shaker Tag

With August setting in, friendship is the theme all around.

We were so excited to make our Shaker Tag- for Lulupu Challenge #64 that we did it right away.

We haven’t used too many techniques on this one and it’s simplicity is what we simply love.

Just picked a few Papericious sheets from our stash, a tag die (3 sizes), a few stamps and embellishments and we were good to go.

Die cut our papers, stamped our sentiment on the highlight tag (creating a shadow effect) and an accent of funky lights. We threw in our sequences and used a glitter foam border to complete our shaker. Added a butterfly and cabochon for extra accent. We also added a ‘you rock’ tag and stringed everything together to complete our project.
