Mixed Media Moon Chime

Today I’ve created a Mixed Media home decor piece inspired by two challenges. I was invited by Mixed Media Academy to guest design for their August Challenge. The challenge is to create something inspired by the colour palette and a Zodiac Sign.

I combined this with the Nomadic Soul Diaries August Challenge.

NSD August

Here’s my project: Inspired by MMA- The colour palette works for me very well because these are my go-to colours. I’ve used a crescent moon idea and created my interpretation of the universe. I believe my purpose is to heal, inspire and spread light. The Virgo Symbol is of a maiden carrying s shaft of wheat. In my interpretation, I’ve used it as a fairy carrying this light to illuminate the world. I’ve also depicted the universe from the Moon’s perspective, which means space seems white and the moon and stars have the colour:)! This to me is a metaphorical representation of how others perspective and point of view is so important for me. The phrases I’ve used are lines from a poem that I’ve written and talked about this idea.

NSD- I’ve created a home decor hanging, used crystals and as for mosaic I’ve interpreted it as assorted patterns that make a whole and used a stencil and mandala to represent it.

Self-Discovery- A mixed media layout

Hello,

Today we’re guest designing for More Than Words Challenge Blog. Here’s a look at their challenge for this month:

MTW-201907-MAIN

I (Aditi) was inspired by the word inspiration and based my layout on that. ‘Discover’ to me spoke of my own discovery and hence I decided to scrap myself in this Layout. The layout is a collection of many moments from my time in Spain. The background is created using watercolour inks and lindy’s magical shakers. I’ve incorporated a technique I discovered during my time at the Art School. I’ve used Scrapbox Chipboard and dies for the embellishments (that I’d bought during my travels and went hiding in my stash). These to me speak of directions. I’ve used lace, doodling pens and a resin frame as well from my old stash as a part of the creative challenge. The colours used are also symbolic to this journey.

I’ve also written a poem on this:

Sometimes, you ought to isolate,

in order to find yourself.

In solitude, I found

my laughter, my joy, my peace.

And then I

discovered me!

Life has its ways,

and if you surrender

healing is magical.

Sometimes, you ought to move,

in different directions

to find the light within.

It’s circular and spiral,

not linear, this journey

called life.

And freedom lies in

flowing like a stream

and swaying with the wind.

And when that happened,

my heart opened up,

sunshine warmed-up my soul,

and love gushed in every cell.

With a new passion and gratitude

my entire being blossomed.

Altered Record for StencilGirl®

Today we are on the StencilGirl Blog with a fun project.

We have created this keeping in mind the theme of Stencil Poetry and What’s Old is New Again.

Combining these, we wrote a small poem that forms the focal of our project. We have altered a Vinyl Record with mixed media techniques.

Here’s our poem:

Old. New. Renew.

Time. Passes.

Change. is. constant.

The only constant.

That. gives me solace.

And yet.

The fragments of the Old.

Stay.

Pieces of a broken record.

As though.

Playing. together.

To be. A. whole.

A. new. again.

Another form.

Another song.

Again.

Old. new. renew.

Here’s the completed record:

dare to fly

We all have wings, it’s just that we need to dare to fly. In life, it’s always easy to succumb to excuses and pass on the blame, because anything and everything takes courage and belief. The belief in your own self and self-love comes first on this journey.

Here’s a mixed media canvas using Fantasy Dies- 642, 553,627 and 705; and Stamperia Mediums, Mould, Ceramic Powder.

The good news is we are teaching this. Yes if you are interested in learning this mixed media canvas and attending our workshop, e-mail us or message us on Instagram @addi.mahajan.
